For many expectant parents, the meaning behind their baby name pick is just as important as the look or the sound of it.

Take Mallory, for instance. I've always thought it's a lovely name, but it lost its appeal a bit when I found out that it actually means "unlucky." Who wants to saddle their kid with that?

Same goes for Leah, which means "weary," or Lola, which means "sorrows." Or Gideon, which apparently means "destroyer who has a stump for a hand."

It may not be enough to make you abandon the only name you both agree on, but if you have a baby name shortlist, the one with the dismal meaning could be be first on the chopping block.

So, when it comes to meaning what are parents looking for in a name? Well, if Google search prompts are any indication, "strong," "love," "peace," and "hope" are all pretty desirable.

The most popular search, though, is "miracle."

It makes sense, doesn't it? Growing, delivering and raising a child does sometimes feel pretty miraculous.

With that in mind, here is a collection of beautiful baby names meaning "miracle" or "blessed."

There are so many sweet names on this list, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the first one, Mirielle. It has such a lovely, lyrical sound to it, and a beautiful meaning, too!
